| To take advantage of a growing economy and a growing client base in Texas, Manhattan opened construction operations in Houston in 1942. This also provided additional opportunities for our employees to grow within the company and take-on new and exciting challenges, while serving the needs of new clients.
The Houston area is literally dotted with significant structures that represent the tough projects taken on by Manhattan. Manhattan has built many of the structures that presently comprise the Texas Medical Center as well as a myriad of projects in The Central Business District. Such projects include the original Harris County Jail (converted from an old cold storage warehouse), the current Baker Street Jail, and the Harris County Criminal Justice Center. Our Houston operation has grown to become one of the most respected and competitive contractors in the South Texas area today.
The Houston Office is known for taking-on unique challenges associated with complex building projects in both the public and private sectors. A recent award-winning example is Reliant Stadium, home to the Houston Texans professional football team and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. |
