For over a century, since 1896, Manhattan Construction Company has been setting an industry standard of building excellence. Manhattan has established a foundation of excellence based on more than just works or words, but a company grounded in steadfast dedication to constructing lasting structures and enduring relationships based on a strongly held belief that today's work is tomorrow's legacy.

The early years of Manhattan saw us constructing courthouses, offices, schools and universities, industrial plants, and hospitals in the growing areas of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. Manhattan constructed the original Oklahoma State Capitol Building in Guthrie in 1907 and the relocated Capitol to Oklahoma City in 1919. During World War II, Manhattan completed over One Billion Dollars in military base, hangar, apron, barrack, and other defense mobilization projects for the United States Defense Department. For such achievements during World War II, Manhattan was awarded two of the coveted Army-Navy "E" awards for excellence. Manhattan was quickly gaining recognition as a forward-thinking company that was helping to shape America.

Interested in knowing how Manhattan got their name?
In 1896, the company founders traveled to New York to incorporate because Oklahoma was a "Territory" and would not become a state until 1907. Urban legend or truth, we'll never know - - a clerk stated the company needed a name and because they were in the middle of Manhattan, that was the first thing that came to mind - - hence the name Manhattan. Manhattan holds the first corporate
charter in the State of Oklahoma.
